A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 07, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with Rev. Curtis E. Benson officiating. Reiff, 83, of Holstein died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 07, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with Rev. Curtis E. Benson officiating. Burial was at the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove. Shirley K. (Parker) Reiff was born on March 14, 1926 in Ida Grove, Iowa to Howard and Lida (Crane) Parker. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1943. During and after high school, Shirley worked in various jobs around the United States. She lived in Indianapolis, IN with a favorite aunt and uncle and worked in L.S. Ayres Dept. Store in the children's department. While Stanley was enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in California, Shirley moved to Santa Monica and enjoyed living with her grandmother. While there, she was employed with the Santa Monica Board of Education. When she returned to Ida Grove, she was employed as a telephone operator in 1942 and 1943. Shirley and Stanley Reiff were married on July 11, 1944 while Stanley was on leave from the U.S. Navy. They moved to a farm southwest of Holstein in 1947. To this union, five children were born. They lived on the farm until Shirley moved into the Good Samaritan Society this past June. In July, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Shirley loved life. She enjoyed things involving her friends and family - church, cooking and baking, gardening, reading, watching TV, shopping, playing cards, golf, music, dancing and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Stanley; their children, Diane and Tom Kolbo of Nevada, IA, David and Diane Reiff of Fairfield, IA, Brian Reiff and fiancé Stephanie Yurick of Tempe, AZ, Kent and Anita Reiff of Ankeny, IA and Randy and Keri Reiff of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren, Emily Reiff and husband Jack Greiner of Milltown, NJ, Lindsay Reiff of Milltown, NJ, Molly and Luke Martlin of Iowa City, IA, Ryan and Patti Kolbo of Littleton, CO, Heidi Kolbo and fiancé Nick Boyd of Carteret, NJ, Heather Kolbo of Kansas City, MO, Eric, Ali and Connor Reiff of Seattle, WA ; and five great grandchildren, Ben and Hana Martlin of Iowa City, IA, Zachary and Abby Kolbo of Littleton, CO, and Gabriel Greiner of Milltown, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roger Parker and Harold Parker; and a sister, Beverly Parker.
