Description	:	daughter of Dale M. and Marian L. (Barron) Simpson Shirley Kay was born July 18, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Dale M. and Marian (Barron) Simpson. Upon graduation from Waterloo East High in 1957, she attended Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI), where she completed her K/Primary Teacher's Certificate. On June 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to Lloyd H. Berry at Linden United Methodist Church in Waterloo. She taught first graders in both Tripoli and Winthrop. Upon graduation from Waterloo East High in 1957, she attended Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI), where she completed her K/Primary Teacher's Certificate. On June 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to Lloyd H. Berry at Linden United Methodist Church in Waterloo. She taught first graders in both Tripoli and Winthrop. Shirley devoted her early years of marriage to homemaking and raising her children. Following their move back to Cedar Falls, she worked over the years at Bishop's Buffet, Exceptional Persons, Inc., Affina and the Hansen Elementary lunch room. Eighteen months after Lloyd's death, Shirley married Robert L. Robinson on September 30, 2006, at Washington Chapel in Cedar Falls. Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church, taking part in UMW, morning Bible study, Chancel Choir, Sunday School and Community Meals. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of Woodland Investment Club. Shirley enjoyed time spent recreating with her family, reading, gardening and traveling. Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert L. Robinson of Cedar Falls; son, Mark J. Berry (Kim) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Diane R. (Kent) Prescott of Waverly, and daughter, Denise L. Berry of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, Joanna, David, Joseph and Rebecca Berry and Jordan, Keri, Mason, Cole and Emmalia Prescott; sister Marlys Simpson of Cedar Falls, and brother Tom (Michele) Simpson of Athens, GA. Shirley died Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Lloyd Berry.
