Description	:	Shirley Rieckenberg, 80, of Sumner, Iowa and formerly of Waverly passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein, Iowa. Shirley Lavonne Rieckenberg was born on October 20, 1935, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Heinmiller) Boerschel in Charles City, Iowa. She attended school in rural Butler and Bremer country schools and graduated from Waverly High School in 1954 and then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa. On April 29, 1956 she was united in marriage to LaVern Rieckenberg at Peace Evangelical Reformed Church in Waverly, Iowa. Shirley Lavonne Rieckenberg was born on October 20, 1935, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Heinmiller) Boerschel in Charles City, Iowa. She attended school in rural Butler and Bremer country schools and graduated from Waverly High School in 1954 and then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa. On April 29, 1956 she was united in marriage to LaVern Rieckenberg at Peace Evangelical Reformed Church in Waverly, Iowa. Shirley was employed as a receptionist in a Dentist office, as an accountant for Happel Construction and worked in the Dietary at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community. However, most of her life was spent farming with LaVern on the dairy farm. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church – Western Douglas. Shirley enjoyed doing cross stitching, puzzles, reading, playing cards and baking. Most especially spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Iowa State fan. Survivors are her husband, LaVern Rieckenberg of Sumner, Iowa; three daughters, Jeanette (Monty) Bergmann of Sumner, Iowa, Susan (Dean) Lantzky of Sumner, Iowa and Lisa Pearce of Willmar, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and sister, Carol Graveman of Reinbeck, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran Church – Western Douglas with Pastor Kim Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church – Western Douglas Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home of Waverly, Iowa
