She was born on March 8, 1931 in Eldon to Scott M. and Freda V. Breckenridge Penrod. She married Vonnie Brooks on Jan. 3, 1952 in Bloomfield. She was raised and educated in Eldon graduating from Eldon High School in 1949. She was born on March 8, 1931 in Eldon to Scott M. and Freda V. Breckenridge Penrod. She married Vonnie Brooks on Jan. 3, 1952 in Bloomfield. She was raised and educated in Eldon graduating from Eldon High School in 1949. Following her husband's retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1971, she and her husband lived in the Agency area where she was formerly employed by Industrial Machines and Big 3 Farm Service in Ottumwa, former assistant city clerk in Agency and most recently employed by Mediacom in Ottumwa, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Batavia and was active in the Baptist Temple Church in Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Rex and Norman Penrod; and a sister Yvonne Thompson. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning 10 o'clock at Calvary Baptist Church in Batavia with Pastor Thomas Shipley officiating. Interment will be in Floris Cemetery. Ottumwa Courier Dec. 2005
