Description	:	Shirley Hinz passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2016. She joins her husband, Gordon, who preceded her in 2002. Shirley was born to Jack and Christina Paul in Mobridge, South Dakota, in 1933. She spent her early years in Manhattan, Montana, graduating from Manhattan High School in 1951. She met Gordon while working for the Forest Service, and they were married at the Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman on Nov. 18, 1955. Read More	Shirley Hinz passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2016. She joins her husband, Gordon, who preceded her in 2002. Shirley was born to Jack and Christina Paul in Mobridge, South Dakota, in 1933. She spent her early years in Manhattan, Montana, graduating from Manhattan High School in 1951. She met Gordon while working for the Forest Service, and they were married at the Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman on Nov. 18, 1955. Shirley and Gordon started their life together in Gardiner, Montana, before moving to Bozeman in 1964. Shirley was devoted to her family and spent many weekends packing up the kids and the camper for trips to Gordon’s current favorite fishing site. He always baited the hook for her. After Gordon retired from the Forest Service in 1983, they moved to Gallatin Gateway, where Shirley was an active member of the Willing Workers Ladies Aid. She was instrumental in the fundraising and construction of the Gallatin Gateway Community Center, on the site of the former Monarch Lumber company run by her father-in-law. × In retirement, Shirley and Gordon were able to travel to New Zealand, Hawaii, Holland, Alaska (with fishing trip!), and Washington, DC, as well as many additional car and RV trips throughout the southwest. They often spent a winter month in Arizona. They enjoyed meeting family and friends for camping and fishing trips around Montana, especially at Canyon Ferry. Shirley was an avid Bridge player, and filled her days with Bridge clubs, volunteering at church, and other social events. But the greatest pride for Shirley was in her role as a grandmother. Her favorite days were spent baking and planting flowers with her grandkids and she would rarely miss their sports events or recitals. She is survived by her son, Pat (Jes Falvey); daughters, Terry (Bob Landowski), and Linda (Rick Pezzullo); and grandchildren, Claire Landowski, Niko Hinz, and Helen Falvey Hinz. Also surviving are her brother, Ray Smith of Vancouver, Washington; and sisters, Regina Lewis of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Sally Bendewald of Stevensville, Montana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to the Willing Workers Ladies Aid, Inc., PO Box 329, Gallatin Gateway, MT 59730, www.gallatingatewaycommunitycenter.com A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 at Hope Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Salesville Cemetery.
