He was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Tangier, a son of Byron S. and Dora (Lindley) Legg. On June 23, 1950, he married Darlene Imler, and she died Dec. 16, 1994. Sidney was a 1941 graduate of Purdue University and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and the owner of Legg Seeds in Windfall for 50 years. He belonged to the Windfall Christian Church and was an Elder Emeritus and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the holding corporation for the building of Tri-Central Schools and an honorary alumnus of Johnson Bible College. Survivors include two sons, Stephen Legg and wife Janice, Windfall, and David Legg, Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Dr. Katharine Krol and husband John, Indianapolis, and Janet Pape and husband Brad, Lafayette; four brothers and one sister, Wilbur Legg, Chicago, Dr. Ruth Galbraith, Auburn, Ala., Robert C. Legg, Kansas City, Mo., Edgar E. Legg, Orlando, Fla., and Dr. James C. Legg, Manhattan, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Daniel Pape, Lydia Pape, Ashley Zurcher and husband Brad, Allison Hargrove and husband Michael, Aaron Legg, Julia Couch and husband Ben, and John Krol. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Legg. His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Windfall Christian Church, 211 N. Independence St. Windfall, with Carl Roudebush presiding. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson St., Tipton, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Windfall Christian Church Building Fund, 211 N. Independence St., Windfall 46076; and/or Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, TN.
