A son of the late David B .Wade, he was born December 3, 1872. He was married to Emma O. Vint in 1892, who preceded him in death something like a year ago. Wade, native of Highland County, died at his late home in Staunton. Virginia, Thursday October 7, 1948. A son of the late David B .Wade, he was born December 3, 1872. He was married to Emma O. Vint in 1892, who preceded him in death something like a year ago. Mr. Wade spent the major part of his life at Valley Center in the ancestral brick home owned by the Pioneer Wades. For many years he was the genial mail carrier between Mill Gap and Monterey, and possibly no carrier had more varied experiences than he, for roads were then in a primitive state. He was also a successful farmer and stockman, and was a civic and church leader in his community. Upon retiring from active life he and his wife moved to Staunton. Surviving are three daughters Mrs Eulah Beardsley. Chappaqua. N. Y., Mrs Lillian Wilcox, Devon, Conn., and Alma Wade, Staunton; one son Wallace Wade, Monterey: three grandchildren Alma Beardsley, Virginia and Olga Wilcox; two sisters, Mrs Gertrude Gum, Vanderpool and Mrs Cuba Matheny, Staunton. Funeral services were conducted by Rev J. G. Long Jr assisted by Rev. Roy Smith and Rev. Albert Vandevander at Green Hill Church. Interment took place in the family plot of Green Hill cemetery.
