Description	:	UNION - Sidney "Patch Eye" Sumner, 76, of 405 W. Henrietta St. died Feb. 23, 1998, at home. A native of Union, he was a son of the late Jeff and Ethel Cope Sumner. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a retired self-employed electrician. He was a graduate of Union High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Read More	UNION - Sidney "Patch Eye" Sumner, 76, of 405 W. Henrietta St. died Feb. 23, 1998, at home. A native of Union, he was a son of the late Jeff and Ethel Cope Sumner. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a retired self-employed electrician. He was a graduate of Union High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Ester Renwick Tucker; two sisters, Annie Ruth Teague and Lois Bryant of Columbia; three stepdaughters, Pam Coleman of Philadelphia, Joyce Shelton of Union and Gwen Thompson of Greenville; a stepson, Danny Tucker of Jacksonville, Fla.; six stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Barry Ellis, Keith Feathers and Torance Inman. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, South Carolina Affiliate Inc., Piedmont Region, 300 E. Henry St., Suite 101, Spartanburg, 29302-2630. S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
