Description	:	Sidnie Davies Mundy, 89, of Ellensburg, died Sunday, August 16 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Yakima. She was born December 18, 1902 in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, a daughter of Thomas H. and Gertrude E. (Davis) Davies. Mrs. Mundy graduated from high school in Wild Rose. She received her B. A. degree in teaching from Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin and her masters from the University of Washington. She returned to American on the last boat... Read More	Sidnie Davies Mundy, 89, of Ellensburg, died Sunday, August 16 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Yakima. She was born December 18, 1902 in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, a daughter of Thomas H. and Gertrude E. (Davis) Davies. Mrs. Mundy graduated from high school in Wild Rose. She received her B. A. degree in teaching from Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin and her masters from the University of Washington. Her teaching experience included posts at Cowiche, Okanogan, Wenatchee and at Central Washington University. Early in her career Sidnie Davies taught in China for two years. She returned to American on the last boat before the beginning of World War II. Her career in the English Department at Central began the same fall the G. I. Bill brought increased enrollments and a new campus and classroom atmosphere. Before one war had been wholly forgotten, came Korea and Vietnam. Sidnie Davies remained on the faculty following her marriage to Dr. J. H. Mundy on December 24, 1949. She was active in AAUP and many aspects of faculty-administration relationships. Her teaching assignments added classes for prospective English teachers, and the supervision of student teachers locally and in the Yakima area. She retired in 1970. Her two sisters, Juanita Davies and Irene Davies Cleman were also affiliated with Central Washington University for many years. Separately, and often at the same time, the Central years of the three Davies sisters added up to nearly a century of years in association with the university and spanned the years of much of Central's greatest growth. Mrs. Mundy was an active member of Chapter BF of PEO. She served on the Elmview Board for many years, and recently had been active in the Clymer Museum. Survivors include her sister, Irene, and her husband, Lawrence Cleman of Ellensburg; nephews Tom Cleman and wife, Patricia of Flagstaff, Arizona; John Cleman and wife, Donna, of Temple City, California and one living stepson, Pat Mundy. Mrs. Mundy was preceded in death by her husband James in August 1967. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 21 at Steward and Williams Chapel in Ellensburg. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery.
