Description	:	Mrs. C. G. Brandow of Sioux City passed away last Thursday afternoon, February 1st, in a Sioux City Hospital following an extended illness. Last October she suffered a fall from which complications ensured causing her death. She had been a hospital patient for several months but even so her death was unexpected as she seemingly was making a slight recovery when she suffered an embolism which was the immediate cause of death. Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Sioux City at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. Frank O. Johnson, pastor of the Trimble Methodist church, in charge. Her remains were then brought to Hawarden and burial was in Grace Hill cemetery. Signa Anderson was born August 28, 1880, in Sweden, and so was past 59 years of age at the time of her death. She came to the United States with her parents when three years old and the family lived in Rockford, Ill., for a time. Later they moved to Gowrie, Iowa, and then came to Ireton. In 1891 they came to Hawarden and she spent part of her girlhood days and young womanhood in this city. She was united in marriage with Claude G. Brandow at Hartington, Neb. November 26, 1903, and these unions were born four children, all of whom with the husband survive her. The children are Mrs. Edith Cleveland, Sioux City; Mrs. J.R.Roddy, Norfolk, Nebraska; Mrs. Ted Miller, Hawarden, and Karl in the United States Navy at Norfolk, Va. She is also survived by five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Alma Passehi and Mrs. Florence Mitchel, Sioux City; Mrs. Vivian Larson; Redfield, S.D.; Mrs. Lillian Smith and Mrs. Evelyn Lawton of Topeka, Kansas; J.G.Anderson, Ridgewood, Colorado, and Gust N. Anderson, Huron, S.D. Six grandchildren were also left to mourn her death. Mrs. Brandow was a member of Trimble Methodist Church of Sioux City, the Women's Union Labor league, the Navy Mothers' Club and the Degree of Honor. She was also a member of the auxiliaries to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman and the Spanish-American War veterans and of several clubs. She was a faithful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her loved ones as well as a host of other relatives and friends. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 2/8/1940
