Description	:	"Anchorage Daily News" March 25, 2007 Willow resident Simon Colgan, 64, died of chronic lymphocytic leukemia on March 18, 2007, at home. Services were at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, Neb. Mr. Colgan was born to William and Mary Colgan on June 20, 1942, in Lexington, Neb. He attended grade school in Overton and graduated from Overton High School in 1960. In 1964, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served two years in Vietnam. Services were at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, Neb. Mr. Colgan was born to William and Mary Colgan on June 20, 1942, in Lexington, Neb. He attended grade school in Overton and graduated from Overton High School in 1960. In 1964, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served two years in Vietnam. After his discharge with honors, Mr. Colgan came to Alaska in 1970 and worked on the North Slope. After he met and married his wife, Gala, he settled in Anchorage. He worked as a member of the Teamsters until his illness forced his retirement in 1996. Mr. Colgan was an avid sports fan who enjoyed family, country and Western music, bird-watching, and excercise with his dogs. His family wrote, "Simon will be remembered as a kind man with a gentle and giving spirit and was dearly loved by family and friends." He is survived by his wife, Gala Colgan of Willow; son, Ray Colgan of Austin, Texas; siblings, William Colgan Jr. of Tacoma, Wash., Tom Colgan of Elwood, Neb., Marge Aten of Kearney, Neb., and Rosemary Crosby of Johnson Lake, Neb.; siblings-in-law, Susan and Mitch Pruitt of Peters Creek, Michael and Myra Hildebrand of Juneau, and David Hildebrand of North Slope; and mother-in-law, Bobbie Hildebrand of Willow.
