Description	:	Wyse. - Simon, oldest son of Christian and Fanny (Roth) Wyse, was born Jan. 30, 1867, on a farm south of Wayland, Iowa; departed from this life at the Mercy Hospital, Burlington, Iowa, Feb. 23, 1950; aged 83 y 24 d. Death was caused by a heart ailment and complications. On Feb. 1, 1893, he was united in marriage to Caroline Eicher, Noble, Iowa. This union was blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters (Fred L., Wauseon, Ohio; Oletta M., at home; Leonard R., Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and Alta-Mrs. T. W. Stewart, San Diego, Calif.). In his youth he united with the Eicher Mennonite Church, later transferring his membership to the Sugar Creek Church, of which he remained a faithful member until death. His quiet, unassuming nature won for him many friends. Surviving are his wife, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 half sisters (Mary Mast and Mrs. C. J. Freyenberger). His parents, a stepfather, one grandson, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 half brothers, and one half sister predeceased him. Funeral services were held at his late home, conducted by Vernon Gerig and Willard Leichty, and at the Sugar Creek Church by Vernon Roth and Simon Gingerich.
