"Mr. and Mrs. Royse Tucker, of near Mentone, were notified recently that their son, Seaman (first-class) John Tucker is now listed as missing in action by the War department. Tucker, one of three brothers, in service, visited at home last April, after which he reported to New London, Conn,. for assignment. He had been in the Pacific theater of operations since June. He recently ran into a boy friend on an island and through this medium was able to advise his parents of the nature of his duty and of his whereabouts. Mr. and Mrs. Tucker last heard from him in September." Seaman Tucker enlisted in the Naval Reserve in November, 1942, and received his training at the naval base at Bunker Hill, near Peru, Ind. He entered the service just two months after his brother, Robert, now a technical-sergeant with the army air forces serving in Burma. Recently, a third son of the Tucker's, Joe, entered the service and is now a private in the army stationed at Camp Wheeler, Ga." "Seaman Tucker attended high school in Mentone where he was active in athletics. he was graduated in the spring of 1942, the year he entered the navy.
