Read More	Shaw & Sons Funeral Home Kenneth Lee Cook, 75, passed away August 8, 2019 at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital with family by his side. Born on the 25th of May, 1944 to Edgar E. and Bessie (McCain) Cook in Sunnyside, WA as the second of three children. He is survived by his older sister Beverly B. McCowan (Don) of Yuma, AZ and younger brother Gary L. Cook (Donnita) of Charleston, SC. Ken grew up in Yakima and attended Hoover and Franklin schools prior to graduating from Davis High School in 1963. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and two sport letterman as a track athlete and a football player during his academic years. He served his country for 6 years as a Navy Seaman from 1965-1971. Two of his service years were served at sea, aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. America; then he was deployed to the Middle East. After serving his country he continued his pursuit of education at both Oregon and Washington schools: Technical Institute in Klamath Falls and he received a Horticulture degree from South Seattle Community College. Ken has one child with Linda Willson and they are by their son Jason Cook of Yakima, WA and wife Marianne, and their two children Gage and Raiden Cook. Ken worked in Seattle following his military service and retired from the City Light Department before returning to Yakima in 1999. He loved the Yakima Valley where he had grown up and settled into retirement life with his new life partner, Pearl Rice, also of Yakima. They were a fixture at family gatherings, events and vacations for the last 23 years. Ken’s family and friends will always remember the soft spoken, amicable man who loved planning future endeavors and upcoming vacations. Ken’s caring nature towards animals and his contagious laugh will never be forgotten by loved ones. A graveside service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Family and friends will retire to the Yakima Area Arboretum for coffee and remembrances following the service. Memories may be shared at www.shawandsons.com.
