Description	:	Solomon M. Reeser born in York Co., PA the son of William B. Reeser & Eliza Meisenhelder Reeser. The family soon moved to neighboring Hampden Twp,in Cumberland County,PA. He was the oldest of four children. 1. Solomon 2. Mary Ann 3. Leah 4. Jacob (died as an infant) It's unknown what happened to Solomon's sisters as no information has been located on them after the 1860 census. Solomon signed up with Union Forces August 3,1865, with the 187th Regiment,Company "B" of the PA Volunteers,in the Civil War. By 1870 Solomon had moved farther west to the Liscomb, Iowa area where he met and married Mary Catherine Bentley in 1873. By trade Solomon was a carpenter. Solomon and Mary were the parents of six children. One of them(Frank) died in infancy. Their children are Edward B.,Anna L.,William Z.,Lenora and Lowell M. During their years in Iowa they lived in Liscomb,Union and Armstrong. ∼Evening Times-Republican, Friday, Aug 14, 1914, Marshalltown, IA, Page: 6 Solomon Ressor Dead Union, Aug. 14 – The body of Solomon Ressor, of Armstrong, accompanied by his wife and children, arrived here last night. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a fifer in the drum corps during his service. Mr. Ressor lived in Union many years, working at his trade, a carpenter. Being to feeble to continue work, the son rented a farm near Armstrong two years ago, where they have since resided. There was a prayer service at the house and interment was in the Union Cemetery today.
