Read More	A Soldier Boy The following item clipped from the Harper, Kansas, Advocate of Oct. 4th has reference to a nephew of Samuel and J.G. Dotterer,two well known redidents of this county: The funeral services of Solomon N. Dotterer were held at the German Apostolic Church last Sunday afternoon. The sermon was delivered in the German language by Rev. Fred Domenick, and J. Burkholder followed by an address in English. The church was filled to overflowing by our citizens, hence the services in both languages. After the church services the remains were interred in the German cemetery, two miles southeast of the city. Solomon was a member of the 44th U.S. Volunteers and was injured in a battle in the Phillipines on December 15, 1900, dying the following day. He was first buried on the Boholo Island, one of the Phillipine group of islands. After he was buried as long as it is required by army regulations the body was taken up and started on the way to its final resting place. He was 21 years, 9 months, 13 days old at the time of his death. Solomon was born in Paulding county, Ohio, and was the fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Dotterer of Grant township. Although Sol. died in the service of his country the family are deeply grieved over his death.
