FAILE December 4, 1901, at Marshalltown in a double wedding where his cousin Lee Rash married Ettie Asher. Allie was born January 10, 1874, in South Carolina, daughter of David Faile and Sarah Taylor, and died April 29, 1936 in Hardin Co., Iowa. He married (3) BERTHA JESSUP. More About Solon from his grandson Larry Rowen: He built up a farm of 320 acres, and lost 80 of them along Honey Creek during the Great Depression of the 1930s. RASH DIED RETIRED UNION FARMER Union - (Special) - Solon L. Rash, retired farmer, died at 7 p.m. in his home Wednesday after an illness of three years. Rev. George Biersborn will conduct services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Community Church, with burial in the Union Cemetery. “Mr. Rash, the son of Lewis and Rachel Rash, was born August 28, 1869, on a farm southwest of Union. He spent all his life in this vicinity, was active in community affairs, and was in the I.O.O.F. Lodge. He married Abigail Rash, July 4, 1889. They had two daughters, Effie, now dead, and Lura Williams. His wife died October 7, 1900, and he married Allie Fraile, December 4, 1901. They were the parents of four children: Dr. Ed Rash; Marjorie Warren of Iowa Falls; Lena Rowen of Union; and Wade Rash of Marshalltown. After the death of his second wife, which occurred April 29, 1936, he married Bertha Jessup, June 12, 1939. Surviving, besides his widow and five children, are 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, H.T. Rash of Des Moines and Ben of Marshalltown; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Swain of Creston.
