Description	:	SONJA KAREN (PETERSON) STREIF, daughter of Henry and Sylvia (Rogness) Peterson, was born June 15, 1946 at West Union, Iowa. She was baptized on July 7, 1946 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church by Rev. E. O. Ulving and confirmed by Rev. Paul Meyer on April 10, 1960 at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home through the eighth grade and graduated from West Union High School in 1964. She was baptized on July 7, 1946 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church by Rev. E. O. Ulving and confirmed by Rev. Paul Meyer on April 10, 1960 at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home through the eighth grade and graduated from West Union High School in 1964. She went on to Gator Business College in Waterloo and worked in the office of West Union's Palmer Lutheran Hospital. On June 12, 1966, Sonja was united in marriage to Duane Streif at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Paul Meyer. This union was blessed with two children. Sonja was a full-time homemaker and help mate for her husband. They enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter and motor cycling in the summer. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was active in the church and held office in Zion Women of the ELCA and Hannah Circle. She was also a member of East Country Club. Sonja's Heavenly Father called her home at 8:30 am on January 17 at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 2 days, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Peterson; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Knut Rogness and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Peterson. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Duane; her son Jon and wife, Kathleen Streif of West Union, her daughter, Kimberly Streif of Waterloo; her four grandchildren, Hilary, Morgan and Claire Streif and Shakeem Anderson; her mother, Sylvia Peterson of West Union; her two brothers, Steven and wife, Cheryl Peterson and Claude Peterson, all of West Union; nieces; nephews; many other relatives and a host of friends. Sonja was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.
