Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Goedeker, who died Saturday morning, June 17, at her home northeast of Winnetoon, were conducted Tuesday. Rites were held at 1:30 at Hengstler's Chapel and at 2 o'clock at Christ Lutheran Church, Bazile Mills. The Rev. Bernard Gorentz, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence Condon, Cecil Carter, Rudolph Scheer, William Dannert, George Ehrenberg and Vernon Jensen. Sophia A. Hirseland, daughter of Herman and Sophia Goedeke Hirseland, was born March 26, 1894 on her father's homestead five miles north of Winnetoon. She was two years old when her mother died. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Scheer took her into their home. During her school years she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Willie Scheer. Other families in the Bazile Mills and Winnetoon community also cared for her in her childhood and youth. She was baptized on May 27, 1894, at Christ Lutheran Church and confirmed in the same church on April 4, 1909. On April 11, 1913, she was united in marriage to Charles Schnider of Niobrara. One son, Charles was born to them. Mr. Schnider died July 3, 1915, after being fatally injured in an automobile accident. On Dec. 27, 1916, she was married to Fred H. Goedeker of Bennington. After living one year at Bennington, they moved to the Winnetoon community where she spent the remainder of her life. Surviving are her husband, four children, Charles E. Schnider and Mrs. Emil (Louise) Hintz of Bloomfield, Arthur Goedeker of Creighton and LaVerne Goedeker of Winnetoon, five grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Harrom of Bloomfield and Mrs. Bertha Fedderson of Foley, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, one in infancy and Eric of Oakdale, CA. ...The Creighton News Her first husband Charles M. Schnider is buried in the Winnetoon Cemetery. His name is spelled without the "e". After his death,the "e" was added by both Sophie and his son's in their last name.
