Sophia was raised as a foster child by John Johnston and Martha Malinda Taylor Newman. Sophia was younger than her sisters and was 12 years old when she came to the Newmans. Sarah married William Robert Newman in 1866 and Eliza married Henry Beattie Gott in 1884. Sophia married Amos Downey Hoff January 12, 1872 in Linn County, Iowa. |
