Kelley which occurred at her home in Altoona, April 17, at 8:30 o'clock in the evening. Father and mother Kelley have resided in Altoona for more than thirty years, their home being in the south part of town. Sophia Strate was born in Perry county, Ohio, 79 years ago in February. She was married to H. F. Kelley at the age of 18 years. To this union were born ten children - two of whom died in infancy. The other children are still living except the eldest son, James Burl, who died two years ago in Oregon. Sixteen years ago there was held a family reunion at which the eight children were present. Their golden wedding was celebrated eleven years ago, all the children being present except the oldest son. One year ago - April first - the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding was celebrated. It was a joyous occasion. More than a hundred of their friends and neighbors called to congratulate them upon their long and happy married life. Last fall mother Kelley was taken ill with neuritis, which thought she fought against with an unconquored will power could not be baffled. Her strength was gradually sapped until at (unreadable) her spirit peacefully took its flight. The funeral services were (unreadable) Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal church here, where mother Kelley has been a faithful consistent worker all these years. Rev. A. B. Adams came from Coucil Bluffs to speak the words of eulogy over the departed. Quietly the friends and neighbors took their places in the church, where they came to pay a last tribute to this noble woman. Long will the pastor's words dwell in the memory of those who heard him, for his tribute to mother Kelley was a rare and beautiful one. As the day wore on and the services were over, the remains were lovingly borne to their last resting place, by the sons, grandsons and great grandsons of the departed, in the Altoona cemetery, where they await the resurrection morn. In the days when Christ comes to make up his jewels, surely mother Kelley's name will adorn the most sacred pages in the Lamb's book of life, for her days were filled with good deeds, her mind with holy thoughts and her life was a benediction to all who knew her.
