Description	:	Sophia Maria Bertha Werneke, daughter of Heinrich Warneke and Maria nee Peths, was born February 25, 1875 at Pierce, Nebr. In infancy she became a child of God and a member of the Lutheran church through the act of holy baptism. After being instructed in the Christian faith she was confirmed in the same church in which she was baptized in the 1889 (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper). Read More	Sophia Maria Bertha Werneke, daughter of Heinrich Warneke and Maria nee Peths, was born February 25, 1875 at Pierce, Nebr. In infancy she became a child of God and a member of the Lutheran church through the act of holy baptism. After being instructed in the Christian faith she was confirmed in the same church in which she was baptized in the 1889 (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper). On April 1896 she was married to William Baden. This union was blessed with three sons and two daughters. One son, Adolph and one daughter, Ella, passed away in infancy. The couple lived in Pierce County for five years, after which they moved to the Byron vicinity to make their home for 28 years. Then they moved to a place near Hebron where she spent the rest of her life. She was a charter member of St. John's congregation near Byron and remained a faithful member till the Lord called her home. Her health has been failing for a number of years. The past 1 1/2 years she was bedfast. During her long illness her husband and children cared for her with much love and devotion, administering not only to her physical needs but to her spiritual needs as well. On Nov. 27th at 6:30 p.m. she followed the call of her Creator and Redeemer into life eternal. She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband, Wm. Baden, 2 sons, Arthur of Long Beach, California, and Christoph of Hebron, one daughter, Martha, Mrs. aWlter (sic) Fangmeyer of Deshler, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Gustav and Henry of Pierce, Nebr., and Arthur of Tilden, Nebr., and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted in St. John's church (sic) near Byron on Nov. 30, at 2 o'clock p.m., wit (sic) pastor Karl Fenske officiating.
