Description	:	Services were held Monday, June 6 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Lennox for Sophia Hoffman who died on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. She attained the age of 87 years, five months and five days. Sophie Miller was organist. Marian Hoffman sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Amazing Grace". Shirley Schoffelman was pianist. Pallbearers were Kevin Hyronimus, Todd Schoffelman, Tom Hoffman, Michael Groen, Craig Groen, and Jeff Hoffman. Interment was held in the Lennox Cemetery. Sophia Marie Plucker was born on a farm north of Lennox, South Dakota on Dec. 26, 1917, the daughter of Albert D. and Marie (Highstreet) Plucker. She attended school there and graduated from Lennox High School in 1935. On Dec. 26, 1944 she was married to Lyle Sherard. Two children were born to this union. They made their home in Hurley and then moved to Lennox. Lyle died on May 15, 1968. Sophia was married to Edward Hoffman on October 4, 1969. They lived in Tea and later moved to Sioux Falls. Ed died on February 18, 1986. Sophia then moved back to Lennox where she had since lived. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Lennox American Legion Auxiliary and the Lennox Senior Citizens. She was honored as South Dakota Volunteer of the Year for her volunteer work at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. Besides here parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Hogan on June 2, 1997; her sister, Wilma Dvorak and her brother, Dick A. Plucker. She is survived by one daughter, Janet Ewert and her husband, Joel, of Kamiah, Idaho; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-children and their spouses, Warren and Marian Hoffman of St. Paul, Minnesota, Wayne and Helga Hoffman of Des Moines, Iowa, Gordon and Lois Hoffman of Sioux Falls and Shirley and Richard Schoffelman of St. Paul, Minnesota; 15 step-grandchildren and 28 step-great-grandchildren.
