Read More	Boone County Republican 1880 Died Saturday, July 3rd, 1880, at the residence of her son in law, J.M. Wane, Esq, Mrs. Sophia Hull, aged 82 years. The deceased was the widow of Dr. James Hull, who died six years ago. She was born in Maryland in 1798, and moved to Ohio when three years old. In 1821 she was united in marriage to James Hull. In 1827 they removed to Sullivan county, Indiana, where they resided about fourteen years, when they settled in Jefferson county, Iowa, but subsequently, in 1849, removed to Boone county, which they made their home as long as they lived. Mrs. Hull was the mother of eleven children, seven living and four who died in childhood. Of the living, four reside in this county, namely Samuel A. Hull, Mrs. J.M. Wane, Mrs. J.H. Sigler and Mrs. Milden Luther. The other three, Wesley is now in Mexico, Fenlon resides in Nebraska, and Mrs. Gwynn in Pennsylvania. The deceased early in life joined the M.E. Church and has lived a consistent Christian life worthy of all emulation. She died of old age and its attendant infirmities, having been a great sufferer for three or four weeks previous to her dissolution. The last few hours, however, were comparatively painless and she passed away calmly and peacefully. She died in the full possession of the Christian's hope, and leaves behind her the remembrance of many virtues. The funeral took place on Sunday at Mr. Wane's residence and was largely attended, Father Snodgrass conducting the services. She was buried in Linwood cemetery by the side of her husband. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boone County Democrat 1880 On Saturday, July 3, Mrs. Sophia Hull, relict of Dr. James Hull, died at the residence of her son in law, John M. Wane, at the ripe old age of eighty two years. Mother Hull and her husband were among the earliest settlers in this county, having located on the farm now owned by their son in law, J.C. Sigler, in 1847. She was a native of Licking county, Ohio, and there she was married to Dr. Hull. They afterwards removed to western Indiana, living a while in Sullivan county, then removing to Clay county, from which place they came to Jefferson county, this state in 1844 or 1845, removing to the new purchase in 1847. While in Clay County that part of Indiana was almost an uninterrupted forest. Their home was upon the national road, a government improvement and the main line of travel from the populous east to the wilderness west. They left there just in time to avoid being crowded out for a splendid city now stands upon their Clay county farm. They kept tavern there, and after they came to this county they found themselves on public thoroughfare from older Iowa to the far west, and they kept the traveler in their new home. Mother Hull in early life connected herself with the Methodist church, and truly and faithfully has she lived a Christian life ever since. She was a mother to everybody. Their home was the home of everybody who went there, and it can truly be said that there was never a lonesome or unhappy hour at their home, but it was ever cheerful and bright. Words of commendation sufficient cannot be found to portray the noble qualities of the good, noble, and true. A true wife, devoted mother, kind neighbor, and noble, good, honest woman can be said of Mother Hull. Love and tears to her memory.
