Description	:	RAVENNA — Sophie Lieske, 96, of Ravenna, formerly of Minden, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Ravenna Good Samaritan Center. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. John Carrier officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery before the memorial service. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements. Sophie was born on Sept. 14, 1918, in Upland to Henry and Hannah (Bauer) Pollman. She grew up in the Upland area. On Jan. 29, 1939, she married Carl F. Lieske. They farmed in the Upland area until they moved into Minden in 1966. She was a caregiver to her parents for many years. Sophie worked as a waitress at the City Café in Minden for many years. After Sophie retired, she spent her summers in Estes Park, Colo., working at various jobs. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. Sophie loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to the holiday gatherings. She is survived by her grandchildren, Barbara Morley and husband Rusty, Nicky Smith and husband Dan, Ruth Siebenaler, Ryan Lieske and Toni Brese and husband Jason; great-grandchildren, Cait Kendrick and husband Jacob, Riley Smith and Mya and Lucina Brese; and a daughter-in-law, Marian Lieske. Sophie was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Siebenaler and her husband, Dick; son, Marvin Lieske and wife Sherry; and a granddaughter, Maria Siebenaler.
