Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad. The Rev. Jim Johnson will officiate. A private family burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery prior to services. He was born April 6, 1939, at Elwood to Spencer, Sr. and Earline [Tilson] Decker. Survivors include his wife, Janean Decker of El Dorado, Ark.; two sons, Theodore "Ted" Decker of Cozad and Jay Decker of Hastings; a daughter and a son-in-law, Lynell Decker and Muriel Martins of Houston, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Helen Decker of El Dorado, Ark.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Dixie and Rod Dreher of Elwood. Spencer attended schools in Elwood and California and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1958. On March 17, 1961, he married Janean Thompson at Denver. They made their home at Denver where he worked for General Iron Works. The couple later moved to Gothenburg and he was employed with Monroe Auto Equipment Co. at Cozad. In 1969, they moved to Cozad. Following his retirement in 2001, they moved to El Dorado, Ark. He was a longtime member of Parkview United Methodist Church at Cozad, later joining the Immanuel Baptist Church at El Dorado. While in Cozad, he was active in the church choir, led the children's choir and taught Sunday school. While living in Arkansas, he served as Deacon of the church, was in the church choir and supported the Awana Program.
