Harlan, Town Tribune Wednesday December 23, 1987 page llB Sister Janice Schimerowski, 66 EARLING — Janice Viola Schimerowski, daughter of Stanley Jacob and Magdalene (Ebert) Schimerowski was born near Earling, March 1, 1921. She died at the home of her sister in Carroll Dec. 7, 1987 at 66 years, nine months and six days. She was baptized, received her First Communion and was confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling. She attended St. Joseph's. School and graduated from high school with the class of 1939. After high school, sheattended Normal Training at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and taught in a rural school near Earling. She entered the School Sisters of Saint Francis Convent in Milwaukee, Wl in 1941 and was received in 1942. She began teaching in West Allis, Wl in 1944 and in 1948, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Alverno College in Milwaukee. In 1960, she received her Masters of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision and taught in Milwaukee. In 1963, she became a principal and teacher in Ralston, NE. In 1968 she taught in Protivin, IA and in 1969, she was an elementary teacher in Omaha. In 1970, she then moved to Atlantic, where she was the coordinator of Religious Education at SS Peter and Paul Church until 1977 and the South West Iowa Council on Aging for four years. In 1980, she became employed by the Cass County hospital in Admissions and Switchboard. She had recently moved to Carroll to be near her sister, Jean. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, the American Association of University Women, Cass County Human Services Coordinating Committee, FACT Foundation, the Cass County Association for Retarded Citizens and the Iowa Women's Political Caucus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen LaPierre. She is survived by two sisters, Kathleen (Mrs Urban) Bissen of Dewey, AZ and Jean (Dr. Rex) Heese of Carroll; two brothers, James and Larry both of Earling; nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was con-celebrated, Dec. 10, 1987, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling with Rev. Greg Leach as celebrant. Homilist was Msgr. Bartholomew Kane and concelebrating priests were Rev. James Wadsworth, Atlantic; Rev. Tom Pfeffer, Atlantic and Msgr. Bartholomew Kane, Atlantic. Assisting were the School Sisters of St. Francis, United States Province. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Earling with Robert Schimerowski, Scott Schimerowski, Dr. Jan Heese, Dr. Ned Heese, Dr. Kit Heese and Curt Heese serving as casket bearers.
