Description	:	Sister Fleurette Spain, OSF, 87, died Tuesday at Samaritan Hospital North, Clinton. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount St. Clare Chapel, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today on the fifth floor of Mount St. Clare Convent, Clinton. Prayers will be said at 4 p.m. and a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at the convent. She spent most of her 63 years of active ministry teaching in junior high school and at high schools in Loudres, Perry, Vail, Victor, Fonda, Hawarden and Carroll, Iowa. She was a school... She spent most of her 63 years of active ministry teaching in junior high school and at high schools in Loudres, Perry, Vail, Victor, Fonda, Hawarden and Carroll, Iowa. She was a school principal for eight years in Fonda and Perry. She also taught in Cameron and St. Patrick, Mo., and Macomb, Ill. Most recently, she was assigned to Chino, Calif., where she taught and worked as a librarian for 16 years at St. Margaret Mary Parish School. Sister Spain received an associate's degree from Mount St. Clare College in 1930; a bachelor's degree from St. Ambrose College, Davenport, in 1949; and a master's degree from the College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn., in 1954. She also completed additional studies at Marquette University, Milwaukee; the University of Iowa, Iowa City; and Western Illinois University, Macomb. She held professional teaching certificates in elementary and secondary levels and a lifetime certificate in library science. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1927 and professed her final vows in 1933. Survivors include a sister, Mary Alice Brick, Clinton; and brothers, Francis Spain, Sioux City, and Joseph Spain, Lynwood, Wash. ---- Before joining the order, Sister Fleurette is listed in early censuses as Viola F. Spain.
