Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, December 29, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bishop Marty Chapel, with burial following in the monastery cemetery. Cecelia was born November 29, 1914, to George and Christina (Meierotto) Fullenkamp, on the family farm near Burbank, SD, the sixth of nine children. Her grace school education was completed at the Burbank public school and the parochial school in Humboldt. After attending the first two years of high school in Burbank, she completed her junior and senior years at Mount Marty Academy, graduating in 1933. That September, she entered the monastery and made monastic profession as Sister Valeria June 24, 1935. She graduated from Mount Marty College with a degree in elementary education, and attended Creighton University, Omaha, and the University of South Dakota for further studies. S. Valeria was a well known and much loved music and elementary grade school teacher for 57 years, from 1935 to 1982. She was a member of the faculties in 17 parochial schools in South and North Dakota and Nebraska. After her return to the motherhouse she enjoyed teaching in the Saturday morning program, Ecumenical Religious Training for the Handicapped (ERTH). In her later years at the monastery, S. Valeria assisted in the business office, with the care center activities, as sacristan, in the college library, and other volunteer activities. S. Valeria is survived by her Benedictine Sisters; her brother Bernard, Sioux Falls; her sister Dorothy Lambert, Lemon Grove, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
