They were both killed in action in Europe and the bodies were received in Wenatchee Saturday. S. Sgt. George L. Lewman, a tail gunner, was killed while flying on a B-17 mission over Berlin. The plane was able to return to its base near London. He was killed on February 10, 1944. Born April 17, 1917, at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, he moved with his parents to Arkansas City, Kansas, before coming to Manson in 1927. He was graduated from the Manson high school and was a member of the Methodist church and Chelan aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enlisted in the army in 1937, and later transferred to the air corps. He was married October 20, 192. He is survived by his widow, his father A. L. Lewman of Manson, his mother Mrs. Lulu Lewman of Davenport, Wash., one daughter, Barbara C. Lewman of San Diego, Calif., one brother Floyd Lewman of Manson and one sister Mrs. O. C. Thunhurst of Manson. T. Sgt. Lloyd L. Lewman was killed in action at the Battle of the Bulge in Begium on January 30, 1945. Born August 4, 1922, at Arkansas City, Kansas, he came to Manson with his parents in 1927. He was a member of the Methodist church. He enlisted in the regular army in his senior year at Manson high school and served 2 ½ years in Alaska before returning to the states as an instructor. An infantryman; he requested to be sent overseas. He is survived by his widow, Gladys, his father A. L. Lewman of Manson, his mother Lulu Lewman of Davenport, a twin brother Floyd Lewman of Manson, one sister Mrs. O. C. Thunhurst of Manson.
