Description	:	Memorial services, conducted by Arthur Swanson of Oakland, were held at the Decatur NE City Hall, Sunday, August, 4th, for Staff Sgt. Perry Rogers, who died in action in Okinawa. Staff Sergeant Perry Rogers was born in Decatur, NE on November 18, 1921. Staff Sergeant Perry Rogers was born in Decatur, NE on November 18, 1921. Following graduation from Decatur High School in 1938, he was employed by the Kirkhill Rubber Company at Los Angeles, CA for four years. He was united in marriage to Elaine Nelson at Las Vegas, Nevada, December 26, 1941. To this family, one son was given, Perry Rogers, Jr. Perry answered the call to service for his country June 17, 1944 and received his training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas leaving for overseas December 20, 1944. The young hero was well liked by his comrades in the service and did his work well. He received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Okinawa in April. His conduct was commendable and he received the Combat Infantry Badge for Exemplary conduct. Unfortunately he died in action at Okinawa on June 13, 1945. Sgt. Rogers was named for an Uncle, Perry Rogers, who was killed in action in World War I. He is survived by; his wife, Elaine, and their two-year old son, Perry Jr. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Rogers, reside in California. There are three brothers: all in the service, Lt. R. Doyle Rogers, stationed in Florida; Cpl. Norman S. Rogers, in Watertown, South Dakota; and Private Charles V. Rogers of Sheppard Field, Texas. Charles was present for the service. Also other relatives, many friends and comrades attended. Members of the American Legion World Wars I and II attended in a body. Mrs. Rogers was presented with an American Flag. Music was furnished by Mrs. Glenn Miller, Mrs. Jim Sears and Mrs. Jack Robinson.
