Description	:	Stanley DeLaven Allen, the son of Harry R. and Leoti (Craddock) Allen, was born at Pueblo, Colo., on Aug. 1, 1929 and died at Lincoln, Neb., on May 14, 2011, at the age of 81. Stan grew up in Pueblo and graduated from Centennial High School in 1947. Read More	Stanley DeLaven Allen, the son of Harry R. and Leoti (Craddock) Allen, was born at Pueblo, Colo., on Aug. 1, 1929 and died at Lincoln, Neb., on May 14, 2011, at the age of 81. Stan grew up in Pueblo and graduated from Centennial High School in 1947. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, 11th Regiment Headquarters Division and served as a wireman between command posts in the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. Stan was in Korea in 1950 and 1951 in the Inchon Landing, Seoul and was a survivor of The Chosin Reservoir. Following his discharge, he returned to Colorado where he attended Colorado Western College where he graduated in 1954. While he was in college Stan worked for his father for the Harry Allen Painting and Contracting Company in Pueblo. On Aug. 8, 1954, he was united in marriage to Gwen Grosshans at Aurora. Following their marriage they moved to Aurora in 1955, where Stan took a sales position with Grosshans Sales & Service where he worked until 1970. In 1970, Stan purchased the GM dealership from his father-in-law, Arthur W. Grosshans, and renamed it Stan Allen Motors, Inc. He owned and operated the dealership for 31 years until he suffered a stroke in 2000 and sold the business in 2001. Stan and Gwen moved to Lincoln in 2008 to be near their son. Stan enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, wood carving, sports and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved being with his loving children and grandchildren. Stan had served as the Aurora Chamber of Commerce President, Aurora Jr. Chamber of Commerce President, Aurora Rotary International President, Aurora Country Club Vice President, Aurora Development Corporation Board Member, Aurora Ambassadors, Mid-Nebraska Ag Ambassadors Board Member, The Nebraska Governors Ambassadors, Nebraska Admirals Association, Aurora Jaycees Boss of the Year Award 1977, Aurora Chamber Mapmaker Award 1993, Aurora Chamber Gold Award 1999, Aurora Cemetery Board, master mason member of Aurora Lodge 68 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Lodge, Tehama Shrine Temple of Nebraska and Royal Order of Jesters Court No 152; Korean War Reunion Committee Board Member, The Chosin Few Survivors-Midwest Chapter-President 2000, Chairman of Local Shrine Bowl & Shrine Circus Fund for many years, American Legion Post 42 Commander, member of Aurora VFW Post 4993, Aurora Volunteer Fire Dept. 14 years; Ducks Unlimited Board, Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award 1993, Nebraska New Car & Truck Dealers Association President & 1998 NADCO President for 10 years; served on several Buick, Chevrolet & Pontiac dealer councils, received numerous awards for Top Sales. Stan was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora, where he had served on the council, as a deacon and an elder. Stan was a member of the UNL Wheel Club. Stan sponsored students to attend the GM service schools, Milford Technical School and Hastings Technical School. He was also member of the Hamilton County Historical Society. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Courtney Nicole Munson. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gwen Allen of Lincoln; son, Daniel A. (Amy) Allen of Lincoln; daughter, Andrea L. (Tom) Huntley of Avondale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Bradley and Daniel Munson of Avondale, Ariz., Caitlin Munson of Omaha and Caroline, Isaac and Sarah Allen of Lincoln; sister, Patricia A. Crum of San Jose, Calif.; sister-in-law, Shirley (Gilbert) Barnell; brother-in-law, Dick (Janet) Grosshans, both of Aurora and a host of relatives and friends.
