Description	:	Stanley G. "Stan" Carlson, age 84, of Fremont died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born June 21, 1926 at Oakland, NE to Gust and Hilda (Erickson) Carlson. He grew up at Oakland and was a graduate of Oakland High School and lived there until entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from March 15, 1945 to December 14, 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific and the Philippines. "Stan" Carlson, age 84, of Fremont died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born June 21, 1926 at Oakland, NE to Gust and Hilda (Erickson) Carlson. He grew up at Oakland and was a graduate of Oakland High School and lived there until entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from March 15, 1945 to December 14, 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific and the Philippines. After his discharge he moved to Fremont and worked for Hormels for 36 years, retiring July 19, 1986. He also operated a small engine repair shop at his home for 35 years. Stanley married Mary Jane May on March 27, 1949 at Fremont. She died October 29, 1993. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont; member for over 50 years and a past commander of V.F.W. Post #854 of Fremont and member of the Fremont Honor Guard since 1987. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Cootie #14. Survivors include his Son – Gayle and wife Deb Carlson of Hallam, NE; daughter – Diane and husband Terry Smith of Papillion, NE; brother – Clifford and wife Ann Carlson of Kimberling City, MO: and 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife- Mary Jane; brothers – Gordon and Eldred Carlson and sister – Ethel Carlson. The funeral will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 8, 2011 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Greg Hall will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 3-8 P.M. and on Friday 10 AM to 11 AM; with the family receiving friends on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. all at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, NE with full military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20. Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont is in charge of arrangements. 402-721-4490
