He was 72 years old and the oldest of 3 children. Stan received his Last Rites/Sacraments of Penance, Anointing of the Sick and Viaticum on November 16, 2019 before his death. Stan devoted his life to providing for his family. He farmed, raised livestock and spent 25 years working at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Geneva before retiring. Stan grew up on the family farm and raised his family there as well. His greatest joy in life was becoming a Grandpa and spending time with his grandkids. Stan knew the value of hard work and taught his kids the same. He was present at every game, activity, graduation, birthday party and holiday for his kids. He carried that on with his grandkids. He loved watching them in school activities and waiting for them to get to his house after school. Every morning, his boys came a few minutes before school to hang out with Grandpa before riding their bikes. After school, they would return and Grandpa would be waiting for them on the front porch. They spent a lot of time together in the “resting room” also known as the sun porch. This was their special place to spend time together. Stan’s ideal day was having Sally prepare a big meal and invite his kids and grandkids over for supper. He enjoyed playing board games with them around the big dining room table. Stan’s sense of humor will be missed by many. He never met a stranger. Stan married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn E “Sally” Miller of Geneva on February 21, 1966 and to them 3 children were born. Stan was a devoted member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Geneva and was actively involved in the Geneva Baseball Association, Fillmore County Fair where his kids showed hogs every summer and was an avid supporter of the Geneva FFA and 4-H programs. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Wilma Miller, mother and father-in-law Robert and Betty Clark, grandparents Joseph and Caroline Miller and William and Marcella Marson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn “Sally” Miller; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Tim Sieber; son Joe Miller and daughter Heather Miller. He also stepped in as a father figure for Carrie Burg, after the death of her father. His grandchildren Taylor (Wilkins) O’Neill, Dakota Wilkins, Drake Sieber, Kinyon Miller, Jaxon Miller, Amari Miller and Jaivan Miller. Stan is also survived by his sister Nancy (Don) Lahners, brother Bill (Shari) Miller ; also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends old and new. A Mass Of Christian Burial was held for Stanley on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Father Harlan Waskowiak presiding. Praying of the Rosary was held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska. Organist, Charlotte Bumgarner, accompanied the congregation as they sang 4 hymns, “Alleluia! Sing To Jesus”, “Sing of Mary”, “Here I Am Lord” and “Song of Farewell”. Pallbearers included Ryan Opfer, Jamie Opfer, Justin Opfer, Dakota Wilkins, Derek Miller and C.L. Howell. Graveside Services were conducted following the funeral mass at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Geneva, Nebraska. The Nebraska Signal November 27th, 2019 page 10A
