Stanley was born November 18, 1928 to Frank and Veronica (Lubash) Koperski in Farwell, Nebraska. Stanley grew up in Farwell. He attended and graduated from Farwell High School in 1948. After graduation, Stanley started farming. He entered the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Diego, and then became an MP at an ammunition depot in Hawthorne, NV. Koperski, of Cairo, Nebraska died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska. Stanley was born November 18, 1928 to Frank and Veronica (Lubash) Koperski in Farwell, Nebraska. Stanley grew up in Farwell. He attended and graduated from Farwell High School in 1948. After graduation, Stanley started farming. He entered the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Diego, and then became an MP at an ammunition depot in Hawthorne, NV. He was honorably discharged in 1953. After returning home from the military, Stanley farmed near the Dannebrog area and worked at the Phonograph Herald and was a guard at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island. Stanley met Gladyce Eloe and was united in marriage to her on June 11, 1957 in Loup City, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born. Stanley continued farming and worked at the Grand Island Independent, preparing the bundles of newspapers for carriers. Stanley farmed and owned livestock his whole life. The couple moved to St. Paul and lived several years. In 2010, they moved to Cairo. Stanley never retired from farming, he farmed during the summers and went to livestock sales when he could. Stanley enjoyed his family and his grandchildren. He always raised a large garden every summer and enjoyed driving around giving away his produce from his garden. He loved playing cards, hunting pheasants and trapping raccoons. The couple both enjoyed traveling to see family. Stanley was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul and the Mickelsen-Larkowski American Legion Post #241 of Dannebrog. Stanley is survived by: wife, Gladyce Koperski of Cairo, Nebraska; sons and daughter-in-law, Alan & Anne Koperski of Elba, Nebraska, Dan Koperski of Farwell, Nebraska and Steve Koperski of Dannebrog, Nebraska; daughters and son-in-law, Char & Gene Kyhn, Diane Carpenter and special friend Flo Legleiter of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Judy Koperski and special friend Marcus Weathersby of San Diego, California; son-in-law, Doug Hammon of Grand Island, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Leonard & Bernice Koperski and Frank, Jr. & Sharon Koperski all of Farwell, Nebraska, Viola Koperski of Dannebrog, Nebraska and Dorothy Koperski of St. Paul, Nebraska; sisters and brother-in-law, Leona & Robert Verley of St. Paul, Nebraska, Catherine Miller of Beatrice, Nebraska and Rose Jasnoch of Loup City, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Stanley is preceded in death by: parents; daughter Brenda Hammon; granddaughter, Shelby Koperski; brothers & sister-in-law, Harry & Marcella Koperski, Edward Koperski and Paul Koperski and sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha & Leo Kuszak, Cecilia Koperski, Leonard Jasnoch and Ray Miller. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul, Nebraska. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki as officiator. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul. Nebraska.
