Description	:	Stanley Neal Hoskin, age 85, a long-time resident of Denmark, died on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at the Van Buren County Hospital of complications resulting from a stroke. He was born on April 14, 1922 in Cantril to Stanley Blaine and Zenita Towne Hoskin. He attended schools in the Cantril area, graduating from Cantril High School in 1940. Read More	Stanley Neal Hoskin, age 85, a long-time resident of Denmark, died on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at the Van Buren County Hospital of complications resulting from a stroke. He was born on April 14, 1922 in Cantril to Stanley Blaine and Zenita Towne Hoskin. He attended schools in the Cantril area, graduating from Cantril High School in 1940. He worked on the family farm northeast of Cantril and at the filling station in Cantril. He joined the U.S. Army in 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served faithfully throughout the Asian Pacific Theater until 1946. He served as an Army paratrooper and was part of the initial jump force to hit Corregidor, Philippines, where he was one of 68 survivors out of 3600 that jumped. While in the Pacific Theatre he was recommended for the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He also received the WWII Victory Medal, Army of The Pacific Medal and The Army of Occupation-Japan Medal. After the war he met and married Marjorie Story on June 12, 1948. To this union were born two sons, Stanley Kent (wife Sharon) Hoskin of Dallas, Texas and Randy Lee (wife Vicky) Hoskin of Farmington. He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 25 years, retiring in March of 1987. Neal always had a good story for anyone who would listen and would laugh at almost anything. He loved hunting and fishing and spent many hours in these pursuits before and after retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and could always be counted on for some great tomatoes and potatoes. He is survived by his two sons and by three grandchildren: Todd Michael (Jennifer) Hoskin, Ryan Lee Hoskin and Kari Ann Hoskin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Zoereta Lawton and Cornelia Hoskin and one brother, Garlan Hoskin. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory, with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Barbara Koenig officiating. Per his wishes, his body will be cremated following the service. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Denmark Cemetery.
