Read More	Stanley Field, 88, of Mashpee, passed away peacefully March 18 in Falmouth from pancreatic cancer. He was the husband and soulmate of his wife, Evelyn, for 64 years and loving father to his son Walter and daughter Carol who predeceased him in 2006. He also leaves a sister Margaret Wegner of California and many nieces and nephews. Stanley was born April 2, 1922 in Milton, MA, the son of Walter and Robina (Hall) Field. His mother was born in Scotland and he was cared for by his maternal grandparents and family in Quincy after she died from the effects of the flu epidemic and childbirth. In his youth he spent summers with his aunt and uncle, Margaret and John Reid and family, John, Ethel, Walter, Donald and Margaret in Cotuit. Stanley attended Quincy schools and graduated from high school in 1941. He was also a graduate of La Salle University. Stanley was employed by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in the Sales and Service Department at South Station in Boston. On Oct. 16, 1944, Evelyn's 19th birthday, she joined the office staff and was Stanley's secretary. Romance blossomed and wedding bells rang April 21, 1946. After residing in Brockton where Walter and Carol became family, Braintree was home. Stanley was an insurance agent and worked in the W.C. Field Insurance Agency specializing in personal lines. He retired as vice president in 1986. Stanley was trustee and served in other capacities for the First Congregational Church in Braintree where the family was active. In 1973 the Mashpee home was built where they enjoyed weekends, holidays and vacations and in 1986 it became their retirement home. Stanley was on the board of directors for the Briarwood Homeowners'Assoc. and a volunteer for the Quashnet School in Mashpee. Evelyn became the first secretary of the Cotuit Federated Church and both became active members, Stanley serving on committees and the Miracle Kitchen in Hyannis. Stanley joined the Delta Masonic Lodge in Braintree in 1961and was a member of Scotish Rite for 30 years. He was affiliated with the Mariners' Lodge of Cotuit since 1989. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held May 7, 2011 at 11a.m. in the Cotuit Federated Church, 40 School St., Cotuit. Donations in his name may be made to the Cotuit Federated Church, P.O. Box 436, Cotuit, MA 02635 or to Hospice and Pallative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Hyannis, MA 02601.
