Description	:	Stanley Schaible, 79, Eureka, SD, died Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Zion American Lutheran Church, Eureka, with Pastor Ryan Gage leading the service. Burial follows at the Church Cemetery. Kim Gruebele will be organist and the congregation will sing “On Eagle’s Wings”. Dennis Vernon and Patty Entzi will sing “How Great Thou Art” and there will be recorded polka music for the recessional selection. Usher will be Don Gab. Stanley Samuel Schaible, son of Ida (Kramlich) and Samuel Schaible, was born at Eureka on March 18, 1939. He was brought up on the Schaible farm 8 ½ miles SW of Eureka. He attended rural school and then farmed with his dad. Stanley married Shirley Nolan Maus at Zion Lutheran Church on February 20, 1982. They lived on the farm until 1989 when they moved into Eureka. In 1995, they sold the farm and Stanley took a welding job at Wishek Steel. He continued working as a welder into his 70’s. Stanley took great pride in his welding and was extremely particular in his craft. While farming, he also did custom combing for five years. Shirley died July 1, 2017 and Stanley lived the rest of his life in Eureka. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. He and Shirley loved dancing to polka music. On TV, he mainly watched Law and Order and the Weather Channel. He was also known to have kuchen for breakfast. Stan is survived by his stepdaughter—Sherry (Pat) Powers of Burnsville, MN; his sister—LaVerne (Dennis) Vernon of Bismarck, ND; Stepson-in-law, Mike Hepper, of Gettysburg; two nephews—Owen Vernon and Chad Nitschke; three step granddaughters and four step great grandchildren. In addition to Shirley, Stan was preceded in death by his father on September 1, 1999, his mother on April 1, 1990, stepdaughter (Melody Hepper) and nephew (Chris Vernon). Stan’s son-in-law, Mike Hepper, will be urn bearer. Service arrangements by Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka.
