Sheriff's deputies said the fire, reported at 1:21 am burned the man's body so severely that an autopsy will be required to confirm the victims identity. Investigators believe the body was that of an 84 year old man, Stan Tolrude, who lived in the trailer at 560 Hall Road. However, an official identification won't be made until the autopsy is completed tonight or Saturday, according to Cowlitz County Coroner D. F. Winebrenner. Lt. Erldene Johnson, acting chief of the volunteer Toutle Fire Department, said about 17 firefighters responded after the fire was reported by a neighbor. "When we arrived the trailer home and a little building sitting next to it were both fully involved," Johnson said. "Flames were all though both buildings." "We didn't know if anybody was in there," Johnson said, "but we suspicioned it. His pickup was there." Firefighters found a body burned beyond recognition in the living room area of the trailer after the flames were extinguished and the debris cooled with water. Both buildings were destroyed by the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation. "It was hard to tell," Johnson said, "but the biggest suspicion was an electric heater he had sitting in the living room." District 2 Fire Marshal Dave LaFave responded from Kelso to assist at the fire scene. --------------------------------------- The Daily News Tuesday, October 2, 1990 Stanley Tolrude Stanley Tolrude, 84, died Sept. 28, 1990, at his home at 560 Hall Road, Silver Lake. He was born Nov. 10, 1905, in Hettinger, ND, and came to the area in 1964 from Coos Bay, Ore. Mr. Tolrude had been a restaurant chef and worked for Ferguson's Restaurant for several years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Survivors include two daughters, Eloise Monson of Eastsound, Wash., and Rochelle Seaholm of Spokane; two sisters, Gloria Northern of Temple City, Calif., and Alta Dahl of Vermillion, SD; a brother, John Tolrude of Richland; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. No service will be held. Dahl's Ditlevsen-Moore Funeral Home is in charge.
