Description	:	Stepan Somr was born, May 16, 1872 in the village of Podmolka, county of Zbirov in Czechoslovakia. In 1889 at the age of 17, he came to America, first settling in Saunders county at Morse Bluffs. Here he worked as a farm laborer for about three years. In 1892 Mr. Somr came to Knox county, near the town of Verdigre. In 1898 he married Miss Carolina Pavlik. The couple settled on a farm eight miles southwest of Verdigre, where he lived to the time of his death, November 15, 1945 at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 29 days. Left to mourn... Left to mourn his passing are his wife and two daughters, Emma (Frank Kves) of Verdigre and Lillian, (Tony Paesl), who at present is living with her mother; two granddaughters and great grandsons. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Anna Tomasek of Verdigre and a sister, Mary, and two brothers, Vac and Anton in Czechoslovakia, who were living before WWII and a host of other relatives and friends. One sister, Mrs. Rose Tomasek and two brothers, Frank and Joseph preceded him in death. The deceased was a long time member of the ZCBJ Lodge and a charter member of the T.J. Sokols of Verdige.
