A native of Buffalo, he was the widower of Janet Mitchell Smith and the son of the late Stobo and Mae West Smith. He attended Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member Rutledge Masonic Lodge No. 351, Hejaz Shrine Temple, Disabled American Veterans and Union Elks Lodge. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Union Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Lawson. Memorial may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, 29605. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
