Her funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Evangelical Church in Rudyard. Graveside services are 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Havre. She was born on the family homestead north of Rudyard on May 22, 1913, and received her early education at the Prairie Ridge School near the farm. She graduated from Rudyard High School in 1932. After graduation she worked on the farm until moving to Seattle in 1940 to attend Seattle Business College. She then moved to Anchorage, Alaska, to work as a secretary. She met William Brafford and they were married Sept. 4, 1942. The couple moved to Colorado and she was a homemaker. They later divorced. In 1945 she returned to Rudyard to raise her three children and worked as a cook at the Rudyard school for 15 years. She was a cook for the Baker school district for a year before returning to Rudyard. For the next 10 years she was a bookkeeper at Sanvik Brothers Store in Rudyard, retiring in 1975. Brafford had moved to Las Vegas recently to be near her daughter. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Rudyard. Her hobbies including gardening, reading, traveling and cooking. She also enjoyed attending local basketball games and playing the piano by ear. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Froehlich of Gillette, Wyo., and Lois Slater of Las Vegas a son, Jim Brafford of Severance, Colo. four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
