Description	:	Stella was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene, Indianapolis District. She pastored the Liberty, IN, church and later was a supply pastor at the Greens Fork church. Before her marriage, Stella had been a member of the Greens Fork Church of the Nazarene, Greens Fork, Indiana. She may have been a charter member of the church since her sister, Theresa, had been a charter member. ------------------------ OBITUARY: Rev. Stella Polston, age 92 of Connersville, passed away on Thursday evening November 14, 2013 at Fayette Regional Health System. Born July 15, 1921 in Berea, KY, she is the daughter of the late Ben Gay and Laura Johnson Gay Powell. She graduated high school in Economy, IN. On April 26, 1946 in Greensfork Church of the Nazarene she became the bride of Rev. Walter C. Polston. Rev. Polston passed away on February 26, 1997. Stella was an Ordained Minister in the Nazarene Church. She and her husband pastored churches in the communities of Brownsville, Liberty, Laurel and Brookville. They were the founding pastors of the Liberty Church of the Nazarene. Stella also was involved in many revival meetings over the years. She cared for many elderly people in her home over the years and loved gardening. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Owen Powell and three sisters, Audry Smith, Mable Thompson, Theresa Yoke. Funeral services will be conducted at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Monday November 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Robert Mills officiating. Friends and family may gather from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wayne County. ----------------------------- NOTE: This obituary states that Stella's sister was Theresa Yoke. This is either an error or a previous marriage. Theresa died in 1978 and was married to George Setser at that time. Her Find-A-Grave memorial is #59506479.
