Read More	Stella Lavella Isaacs Cheek Elkin, N.C. - Mrs. Stella Lavella Isaacs Cheek, 98, of 501 Brookfall Dairy Road, Elkin, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Harold Hurt, with whom she made her home. Mrs. Cheek was born in Surry County on Sept. 11, 1905, to the late Gene Melvin and Lucinda Elizabeth Snow Isaacs. She married Sherman Asby Cheek on Nov. 24, 1929. She finished school at McMickle School in Surry County and lived most of her life in Surry County, except for the first three years of her marriage when she lived in Canada. She worked for 27 years at Chatham Manufacturing Co. until she was disabled. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Harold Hurt of Elkin, Greta and Charles Cockerham of Columbia, S.C., and Wilma and Clyde Crawford of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren and spouses, Jeffrey Brigg and Vickie Haynes and Kamia Renae Haynes Barker, all of Hamptonville and Edward Harold and Tanya Kalich Hurt of Durham; four great-grandchildren, Justin Neal Branch, Katrina Barker, Jessica Wright and Claire Hurt; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Thompson of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Isaacs of Mount Airy and Marie Isaacs of Winston-Salem; a very special niece-in-law, Etta Pardue; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband of 47 years, who died on Dec. 22, 1975, Mrs. Cheek was preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Ellen Leftwich and Helen Elizabeth Smith; and four brothers, Jessie Ephraim Isaacs, Charlie Miller Isaacs, Joe Wesley Isaacs and Melvin "Mellie" Isaacs. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev.
