Description	:	Stella was born to parents Emil and Anna Bakken Evenson. She was married to Fred Ponto. Stella died from complications of an auto accident on the Spirit Lake Nation. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church in Sheyenne for Stella. She died in St. Luke's Hospital at Fargo. Rev. Stella was born on 30 May 1904 at Oberon, the daughter of Emil and Anna Bakken Evenson and was educated in Oberon schools. On 5 Dec 1923 she married Fred J. Ponto at Sheyenne where they lived for many years. They later moved to Tokio and in May of 1966 returned to Sheyenne to live. Her husband, Fred, died in Jul 1966. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the ALCW and the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Janet) Garske of Devils Lake; three sons, Adrian Ponto, Henry Ponto and Norman Ponto all of Greenwood, IN; a brother, Edwin Evenson; three sisters, Mrs. Steve (Alice) Picarillo of Spokane, WA, Mrs. Harold (Mabel) Skippen, Port Albernie, B.C. Canada and Mrs. George (Ellen) Brown of rural Devils Lake; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, a sister and two brothers.
