She was born in Easton Township, May 28, 1896,the daughter of Burt and Mary (Taylor) Arnold. She was a direct descendant of pioneer families who settled in Ionia County. She graduated from Saranac High School in 1914. She married Herman Chase in 1916 in Ionia. She was a past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs; a member of the Boston-Saranac Historical Society; and a 4-H Club Leader for many years. She is survived by two daughters: Phyllis Kurz, of Ohio; Mary (Dr. Norman ) Gatzemeyer, of Mason; one daughter-in-law, Jean Chase, of Saranac; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, in 1979; one son, Robert A. Chase, on Jan. 8, 1995; and one brother, Martin Arnold. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Easton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Peter VandeBrake will officiate. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home, in Saranac. Memorials may be made to the Boston-Saranac Historical Society, or memorial of choice.
