Read More	Greene Recorder, The (Greene, Iowa) > 1962 > December > 12 Rites Held for Stella Mae Walsh Stella Mae Walsh was born on a farm 2 1/2 miles south of Bristow November 1 1892, and passed away at the Lutheran hospital at Hampton, Iowa, December 5, 1962, at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 5 days. Stella was the daughter of Mae Mellinger and William Hugh Surfus. She was united in marriage to George Walsh in 1911, and to this union were born 2 daughters and one son, Fern, Valda and William. Mrs. Walsh attended rural school and the Bristow High School. She and her husband farmed south of Bristow for over 50 years. Surviving are her three children, Fern at home, Mrs. Clarence (Valda) Schrage of Greene, and William of Dennison. Other survivors include a step mother, Mrs. Florence Blank of Waterloo, two step-brothers, Loren Blank of Waterloo and Arch Bland of Des Moines, three grandchildren, Edwin Schrage, Marble Rock, Linus Schrage of Allison and Aloha Walsh of Denison; and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were here husband, George, who passed away on November 12, 1962; her parents; a brother, Burlin Surfus and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Lucille) Raisch. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, December 8, 1962 at the Bristow Church of Christ with Rev. G.W. Beadle, the local minister, in charge. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
