For several years she had been in failing health, but loving ministries, the best medicl skill, and change of climate seemed to be of no avail to restore her to health and strength. She taught three terms of school and graduated from the Leon High School in the class of 1894. She also served as deputy clerk in her father's office for a period of two years or more where she made many personal friends. About eleven years ago, she voluntarily united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she remained a faithful member until the day of her death. The Reverend Joseph Stephen, her pastor, conducted the funeral service and gave an address from the words: "Her sun is gone down while it is yet day", Jeremiah 15:9. A large concourse of people gathered at her home and at the cemetery to pay the last tribute of love and respect to her remains. Stella Stockton was "the white flower of a blameless life", and was full of hope for the future, yet God saw fit to take her to himself. And now beyond the stars and beyonds the clouds: "In that great choir of stillness and seclusion, By guardian angels led.
