Lorensberg, age 96, of Clear Lake, SD passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the Sanford Clear Lake Medical Center. Stella Sylvia (Herr) Lorensberg was born April 27, 1925 to Carl and Cordie (Currier) Herr on a farm West of Butler, South Dakota in the Crandall Hills. She attended school at Dist. #148 for eight years and graduated from Butler High School in 1942. While in high school, she helped neighbors by babysitting and with threshers. She continued her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. Following her education, she taught country school for six years including one year in North Dakota and was also a teacher's aid for four years. Stella also worked in Peabody Hospital in Webster, SD for a couple of years in the laundry room in the late 1940s. Stella was united in marriage to Arnold Lorensberg on September 15, 1952 in Watertown, SD and had one son and one daughter. Stella enjoyed baby sitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included: ceramics, crocheting, making quilts for her family and working in her garden. Stella enjoyed reading, fishing and traveling, taking many trips to Canada including seeing Banff and Lake Louise, and took their mothers to the Black Hills, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. She would often go with Arnold on trips driving cars for Fritz Chevrolet. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school and belonged to the Eastern Star in Clear Lake until is closed. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Arnold Lorensberg, Clear Lake, SD; two children: Ronald (Jeanne) Lorensberg, Mankato, MN and Debra (Dale) Bublitz, Clear Lake, SD; grandchildren: Mike (Danielle) Anderson, Edmond, OK, Theresa (Chad) Durfee, Dell Rapids, SD, Jeanne Bublitz (Tim), Altamont, SD, Jennifer Jensen, Altamont, SD, Jayme Anderson, Clear Lake, SD, Darren (Miranda) Schwartz, Le Sueur, MN, Katie (Matt) Buschman, Rochester, MN and Brent (Julie) Schwartz, Denver, CO; great grandchildren: Ross and Eli Anderson, Kylie Anderson and Bryce Janiszeski, Taylor and Addison Bublitz, Dylan, Coby and Brady Boyle, Eldon "Tray" and Matt Traylor and Helena Gott, Gavin and Liam Buschman and Cody Schwartz; many nieces and nephews and her dog Bandit. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, one great grandsons, Dylan, two sisters: Maxine and Marlene, and three brothers: Carrol, Arvid and Harlan.
