Mrs Whitney had only recently moved to Ekalaka for high school advantages for her daughters, and became ill there and was taken to the hospital for an operation. She seemed to be getting along all right at first, but after a few days took a relapse and passed away. Stella Viola Westland, daughter of the late Myron and Kittie Westland, was born 20 Dec 1904 at Alzada MT. She grew to womanhood in that locality and on 29 Nov 1932 was united in marriage with Austin C Whitney. The couple made their home in the Alzada vicinity except for two years spent in ID. Four children were born to the union: Anabelle, Beverly, Chester and DeWilton, all of whom, and the widower, survive deceased. She is also survived by four sisters: Mrs John Kirk of Nisland SD, Mrs Grace Bickerdyke of Harding SD, Mrs Ralph Howery of LaPeer MI, and Miss Lillian Westland of Alzada MT; one brother, Floyd Westland of Albion MT, a number of aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends in the community and surrounding area who mourn her untimely passing.
